The stroke unit at Kulmbach Hospital offers stroke patients qualified care close to home. Our geriatric rehabilitation department at the Stadtsteinach specialist clinic also lays the foundation for patients to be able to cope largely on their own at home after their stay in hospital.
We also have access to qualified neurological advice 24 hours a day through our participation in the North Bavarian Telemedicine Stroke Network (STENO) at the neurological centres in Bayreuth, Erlangen and Nuremberg. This means that our patients at Kulmbach Hospital are treated according to the latest medical knowledge.
Kulmbach Hospital has a regional stroke unit (5 beds). Various projects in Bavaria have also shown that the establishment of networks improves stroke care across the board. Kulmbach Hospital is part of one such project (Stroke Network with Telemedicine in Northern Bavaria – STENO).
Stroke network with telemedicine in northern Bavaria
STENO stands for ‘Stroke Network with Telemedicine in Northern Bavaria’. Coordinated by Erlangen University Hospital, 18 hospitals in Middle, Upper and Lower Franconia, the Upper Palatinate and Thuringia are networked with the supraregional stroke centres in the Bayreuth, Erlangen and Nuremberg regions. Each hospital has stroke units with interdisciplinary treatment teams consisting of doctors, nurses and therapists.
